  1. Strong smell of smoke now. Surprised the Guard hasn’t been called in to assist. Temp at 31; colder in the valley it seems, with readings at 27/28.
  2. Noticeable smell of smoke at the office in Basking Ridge; didn’t have it at home in Chester.
  3. Lots of dry air to overcome. Nothing here, but close to decent returns; we shall see.
  4. Likewise in Chester, I can count the drops.
  5. Localized temp inversion; 36 at my place, 28 down the hill.
  6. 35 here; a few 30 readings in the valley low spots.
  7. 37…ticking down. Projected low of 31 tomorrow.
  8. Packed is an understatement. We avoid the Chester area farms on weekends. Instead took an early ride up to Ochs in Warwick; a bit later in the season than normal but still got some great apples and had a perfect afternoon. Warwick Winery was a no-go; turned around in a line of traffic. On the way home passed by Heaven Hill Farm in Vernon which looked like a Woodstock event.
  9. Finally caved and turned on the heat. House internal dropped to 58 with windows closed last night.
  10. 47 here, bottom of the hill in Gladstone is 43. Elevation change of about 350 feet. Neat seeing the cold pool in the valleys.
  11. We live about 2 miles as the crow flys. Cannot disagree. Great place, but we avoid it on weekends.
  12. Milty eyeing up Tampa Bay? Stellar fall day out this way; traffic already building from all the city folk headed to the orchards. That our local tax base is thankful for!
  13. The point is warmer compared to what? The underlying argument is always AGW v. natural variability. If we use an older baseline for temps, then I’m not sure anomalies matter as much as raw data. The Washington Post article, for what it’s worth, seems to highlight the historical average temps were much higher in geological times. Should we compare our current temps against that?
  14. Bluewave just posted the numbers in the September thread; seems to be normal compared to the 30 year average. Isn’t that how we judge temp anomalies?
  15. Wishing everyone all the best down south. I woke up thinking about any southbound hikers who might be out on the AT. Hopefully they got word of this storm in time.
  16. Raining in chester; it all counts at this point.
  17. There’s wetness accumulating on my windshield out in Chester…
  18. Actually had a nip in the air this morning. Went with a long sleeve short/shorts combo getting the kids off to school…
  19. I know it’s dry, but this has been the nicest September I can remember in some time. I mean gem, after gem.
  20. Actually did put a long sleeve shirt on, with shorts, to take the dog out just now. 49 here.
  21. I’m not overly concerned about +2-3 for mid September to November; great weather to keep the kids outside as often as possible until the inevitable 42 degree rainers…
  22. 45 currently; projected high of 67. Going to be a perfect early fall day.
