Packed is an understatement. We avoid the Chester area farms on weekends. Instead took an early ride up to Ochs in Warwick; a bit later in the season than normal but still got some great apples and had a perfect afternoon. Warwick Winery was a no-go; turned around in a line of traffic. On the way home passed by Heaven Hill Farm in Vernon which looked like a Woodstock event.

47 here, bottom of the hill in Gladstone is 43. Elevation change of about 350 feet. Neat seeing the cold pool in the valleys.

We live about 2 miles as the crow flys. Cannot disagree. Great place, but we avoid it on weekends.

Milty eyeing up Tampa Bay? Stellar fall day out this way; traffic already building from all the city folk headed to the orchards. That our local tax base is thankful for!

The point is warmer compared to what? The underlying argument is always AGW v. natural variability. If we use an older baseline for temps, then I’m not sure anomalies matter as much as raw data. The Washington Post article, for what it’s worth, seems to highlight the historical average temps were much higher in geological times. Should we compare our current temps against that?

Bluewave just posted the numbers in the September thread; seems to be normal compared to the 30 year average. Isn’t that how we judge temp anomalies?

Wishing everyone all the best down south. I woke up thinking about any southbound hikers who might be out on the AT. Hopefully they got word of this storm in time.

I’m not overly concerned about +2-3 for mid September to November; great weather to keep the kids outside as often as possible until the inevitable 42 degree rainers…

Estimates are 146 million tons of water was vaporized and ejected into the stratosphere by Hunga Tonga; that has to be enhancing climate drivers in some capacity.

The overdevelopment of many areas is going to exacerbate these types of events, just my humble opinion. The lack of farmlands/woods to absorb most, not all, will have downstream implications (pun intended). Down here in NJ, the amount of townhome/condo complexs being built in traditional farmlands areas is staggering. With the skyrocketing property values, there’s little incentive to hold onto farmlands, hence continued development.

Glad we got some rain, but wagons east on the big totals. Looks like we can salvage the day though, for outdoor projects.

At friends in Boonton Twp today, it rained hard on 2 occasions; drove back to Chester and it looked like it had mist. That’s quite the spread over 15 miles as the crow flys.
