I tend to agree with this. And I know everyone says March is really becoming a true winter month around here recently, but we've tried these backloaded winters where things improve in late February and March and the lag effect means it's too little, too late, and often the pattern doesn't actually truly turn into something good until it's April.

At least that city would be a part of this subforum!

Got clouds out there this morning. Lots of clouds. Great storm. We should start making threads for sunny days, too.

I remember looking at the radar of that storm when it was in NC and not understanding the forecast. It was coming due north.

Don't have a problem with him posting, but it's annoying when he posts in this forum that a model is "honking" and then posts images of the model run and it literally shows a handful of flakes for what is 99% of the posters reading the thread.

Probably because there isn't a snow event.

This may come as a shock to you, but literally all but a handful of posters on here are basically Northern VA and north. Most are DC and MD. No one here cares about Richmond.

It's complete fantasy land, but I'll take the storm on the 20th of December on the 18z GFS and happily look at anything else we get the rest of the winter as icing on top.

FWIW, Bernie Rayno is pretty interested and sees the chance for a couple inches in parts of Virginia (outside the mountains) and snow up to Baltimore potentially.

Interesting. We moved to Ellicott City (Turf Valley area) and we had drizzle mixed with flakes and then some very short periods of all flakes when it came down a little harder. I thought I was going to see some steady snow but the best returns out by Mt. Airy really fizzled to almost nothing as it came east.

2.1 inches here. Decent amount overnight then poured for a bit in the morning. System sliding southeast of us probably kept us out of the 3-4 inch range. Not much wind to speak of.

Let's gooooo!!! LOL. What is the earliest those of you in the city and metro areas actually look for it to snow? I always think of first flakes being legitimately possible around November 20 and then obviously first actual legit snow December 5.

Just moved from Southeast Elkridge to pretty much the far northwest part of Ellicott City, so hoping that's a good omen for this upcoming winter and many to come.

Radar is underwhelming. Rain still hasn't even gotten here yet.

What even happened? I've been swamped with life lately but literally every time I checked radar seemingly for the past few weeks, it's been down. Just seemed like an insanely long time without radar.

Call me crazy, but I think it's too soon to be making declarations like that. 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 wasn't that long ago. 2015-2016 was a crappy winter but we still managed an epic storm. I'm more frustrated than anyone at the lack of snow, but sometimes we go through these stretches around here. It was just hard to remember brutal stretches like this because we were on such a heater there for awhile. Maybe climate change is really impacting our winters, but I think it's too soon to say our last several winters have been poor because of it.
