  1. I've always noticed the same thing with the vegetable garden. Rain water is a lot better than potable water. Obviously potable water will keep the garden going and in decent shape during dry periods, but it's not the same as getting rain. Especially during the spring when the garden is trying to get going, I always notice how much better the vegetable plants look in the couple days after a good rainfall. There's a significant growth spurt and they look much healthier. That doesn't happen after watering with potable water.
  2. Yep I'm starting the watering today. Sucks that we're going into such a dry pattern. Hopefully we'll see storms with the front on Friday ... that looks like our only chance. We'll really be desperate for rain if that doesn't work out.
  3. Yeah that's certainly possible.
  4. Yeah and as I mentioned yesterday, it appears that the heat will start on Thursday with low 90s. The timing of the heat moved up with Thursday and Friday the hot days, and then a little cooler with lower humidity for next weekend. We can hope for a storm with the front late Friday too. That looks like our only chance in this dry pattern over the next week.
  5. Yeah obviously this month is gonna end up WAY above average. Looks like finally a couple slightly below average days Monday and Tuesday, but consistent well above average temps after that. Thankfully we got that good soaking the other day, but we're really gonna be in need of rain by late next week. As you said, it's not looking good with the very dry pattern ahead. Lots of watering will be needed.
  6. Looks to me that we might see 90 degrees as early as Thursday. For people that don't like the heat, enjoy the very comfortable 5 day period that we have before then.
  7. 85 degrees with a dewpoint of 52 here right now. Very comfortable today ... perfect weather for outdoor activities.
  8. Yeah Mount Holly overdid it with the 80% chance for this afternoon. Plenty of areas missing out because it's only scattered activity. It should have been more like a 40% to 50% chance.
  9. I got hit by that cell that missed you guys to the north. Nice heavy downpour that delivered a quick 0.18". Stormlover would have gotten it if he was in Plainfield.
  10. Some cells popping up now. One moving into Warren County. It looks like widely scattered activity instead of a solid line though, so I don't know why they're going with a 90% chance. Anyway I hope we get hit this afternoon.
  11. Tomorrow looks like a great day with mid 80s and low humidity. Overall a nice stretch through the middle of next week, with a lot of 80 degree days with low humidity. I agree with SACRUS that we'll likely get into heat mid month. I think we'll see 90 degree weather for Father's Day Weekend and beyond.
  12. I picked up .84 here overnight. This event was nothing to write home about, but at least we got the good soaking that we needed. Hopefully we'll see a t-storm this afternoon, but it appears that the activity will be isolated as Stormlover and Brian pointed out.
  13. I see HRRR has shifted south with the heavy amounts. Latest run is showing 2"+ for a lot of central NJ. Radar looks as if that's gonna be correct, but most areas to the north that get much less should still see a decent .25 to .50 soaking.
  14. Just temporary for the early summer while his Plainfield home is having renovations.
  15. It's pouring here right now. Good chance that we'll get some heavy rain later tonight, but it's good to get this downpour right now just in case tonight doesn't work out.
  16. Yep but there were other models that did show a few cells popping up this afternoon before the main show tonight. Anyway I hope we get a good soaking tonight .... the ground is very dry now.
  17. It hit 89 here, but felt pretty comfortable with the dewpoint down in the mid 50s. Nice day. As Bluewave pointed out, it appears we're gonna have to wait awhile for any significant heat. Today was probably our hottest day for the next couple weeks.
  18. Yeah the ground has dried out again. I'll be watering today. Hopefully we'll get a decent soaking Wednesday night into Thursday.
  19. Perfect weather today. Mostly sunny and 78 degrees with a dewpoint of 40 here right now. Great way to end May.
  20. Euro still brings in a pretty good batch of rain, but holds it off until Sunday night. Hopefully we can get through most of Sunday dry.
  21. Weekend not looking completely dry anymore. The models now bring in some showers for Sunday afternoon. Definitely gonna be beautiful tomorrow and Saturday though. Nice weather today too ... feels great out there with dewpoints in the low 40s, and they'll stay very low the next 2 days. Looks like enough onshore flow to prevent any real heat next week, so I doubt we see any higher than low-mid 80s anytime soon. It'll turn a little muggy mid next week though with dewpoints rising to the 60s.
  22. .74 here. A little more to come.
  23. 0.62" here so far. The heaviest is over but it's still raining moderately. Nice that the vegetable garden is getting another good drink.
  24. I did finally get a couple here too. Not a lot of lightning with this storm though. The main thing is the extremely heavy rain. It's coming down in buckets.
  25. No thunder here, but it's raining heavily and some decent wind gusts.
