I think the warmth for the next few days looks as impressive as it always has. Still looks likely that we're gonna see low 80s here Monday and Tuesday, and perhaps Wednesday as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see warm spots get as high as 83. Maybe after that (starting Thursday) the cooldown looks a little more impressive than it did a few days ago. High temps might stay in the 60s for most of the rest of the month, but it's possible we'll warm back up to the low 70s for the last couple days of the month. Overall much warmer than normal from now until the end of the month.

I'm enjoying the perfect weather but also very annoyed, lol. It's frustrating for gardeners when it's this dry.

The 70 degree weather felt good today. I wish we could get some rain, but this is great weather. I drove up to Sussex County and went to Swartwood Park today. Lots of nice color up there. I was concerned that the extremely dry weather might mess up the fall foliage season, but it looks pretty good. Some trees lost leaves early, but still plenty of great color.

That's good information. I know it's risky planting this late because the seed might not have enough time to get established, but it does look warm the next 2 weeks and who knows about November. Maybe it won't get too cold in early to mid November. And unlike doing a whole lawn, it's not as big a deal if it doesn't work out if it's only a few patches. He might want to take a shot.

Even with the warm pattern settling in, I think it's probably too late to plant grass. You typically want to plant grass seed a month and half before the first frost.

Had a low temp of 34 here this morning. Close call, but no damage to the vegetable garden. I'm glad the growing season will continue for quite awhile here with the warm pattern settling in, but I wish we could get some rain. Crazy that we haven't had a drop of rain in October after getting very little rain in September, and still no rain in sight.

Had a low temp of 37 here this morning. The vegetable garden is fine and it will be again tonight as we stay well above freeze level. My pole lima beans are producing like crazy. I don't want a freeze to happen until early November, which looks likely at this point. 80 degrees coming early next week, and no sign of any significant cool shots for late October.

Starting to think you're right about October ending up well above normal. Looks like a VERY warm pattern after the cool weather this week. Some mid to upper 70s ahead.

And we really had only 1 decent rain event in September. This is turning into a bad drought. Very frustrating. With the chilly weather this week I don't think low temps will get any lower than mid 30s here and then the big long term warmup, so the growing season will continue for a long time. Will just have to keep watering and watering.

Had a low temp of 38 here this morning. Went bow hunting yesterday and enjoyed being out in the cool crisp weather. Looking forward to more of that type of weather next week. We could have a few days in which it only makes it to upper 50s for highs next week.

Next week looks well below normal, but yeah it does look like a pretty good warmup for next weekend into the week of October 21st. How strong that warmup is and how long it lasts will determine whether we have a near normal month or solidly above. We'll have to see if we get another cool shot near the end of the month. Right now Don Sutherland's estimate is that the month will be only a half degree above normal.

Really something that we're probably looking at a 3rd month in a row with perfectly normal temps. We've gotten so used to way above normal temps with climate change. If only this could continue into winter, but I doubt it.

Yeah definitely. Even though it would be worse if it happened in the summer, a drought now it still bad for a few different reasons.

Yeah obviously it would be much worse in the summer, but it's still annoying for those of us that have gardens. Lots of watering needed as we move through the late part of the growing season.

Had a low temp of 44 here this morning. Despite the advisory I'm not too worried about frost here tonight, since it's only supposed to get down to the upper 30s. Vegetable plants in the garden should be ok here, but I'd be a little more concerned if I was in northwest NJ.

Yeah not surprising to see it overperforming today, and that will continue. It's 76 degrees here right now.

Yeah still going to be a beautiful week with the very low dewpoints and cool nights.

This week definitely isn't looking as cool as it did a few days ago as far as high temps. Now Thursday looks like the only really cool day with below average high temps in the mid 60s. Every other day our area will be up around 70, and then we go back to temps well up into the 70s on Saturday.

Looking forward to the cool crisp weather next week with dewpoints in the 30s. It's going to be great weather for bow hunting. I wish we could get some rain though. Hardly anything in sight ... just the round of showers late Sunday night into early Monday morning. Maybe a tenth to a quarter of an inch with that? That might even be generous. Wouldn't be surprising to see that dry up with our area getting less than a tenth of an inch. Lots of watering will continue to be needed as we move through the late part of the growing season.

Sorry to hear that the fishing hasn't gone well. The easterly flow has been terrible. My tomatoes, peppers and eggplants are in decline too, but they're still producing enough that I care about getting enough rain for them. I also have pole lima beans that are just starting to produce heavily. I picked my biggest amount so far yesterday. Unlike tomatoes, pole lima beans produce heavily late and go extremely strong right up until frost. I also have romaine lettuce for the fall out there and it's producing heavily right now. Since I have a couple things that I expect to keep producing nicely in October, I was happy to finally get a nice rainfall today and I hope we get a decent amount in October. Of course we have flowers and lawns, and trees being stressed which can hurt fall color -- plenty of reasons why we still want rain September into October.

Usually I wouldn't want a day like this on a Saturday, but we really need the rain.

Up to 0.27" for the day now, and a decent batch of rain is moving in from the south. Maybe we can get close to a half inch here. I'm very happy that we're finally getting a decent watering.
