Totally off topic, but after 15 years at a job I could do in my sleep and barely had to do anything, this new job I've been at for 6 weeks has really put a big dent in forum browsing time, should have waited till Spring Decent winds this morning, 43 mph on Davis..lost a few shingles too which sucks. Finally got anemometer mount for roof, try to get it up this weekend weather permitting. Like Dryslot said, think I like the new graphics..

I didn't think about that, but certainly an issue. Whenever someone posts a $1500 1 bedroom rental on the local FB pages here, there are always 50 nasty comments about how high they are priced and and no locals can afford them(which is true). Its certainly really tough for alot of local population in the retail/blue collar workforce. Its always been tough for affordable housing/rent, but just enough inventory thats affordable that most could find something. Post covid there is almost no rental inventory and forget about buying at a reasonable price. A nurse I know that has 3 kids that go to my kids school had to move across the border to NY for affordability/availability after her rental was going to be put on market. Cant blame the owners of these places, chance to make hundreds of thousands more than they would have in pre March 2020.

Makes sense with possible extra bump in wind speed off the roof. This is just an example, but this how I will be siting mine, off the gable end, about 5-6 ft up. With the perfect wind flow(ESE), I'll have almost no obstruction straight back to the western slope spine, it just comes straight down into the back of my house. Why I want to get it up on the roof.

The wind can die off pretty quickly when you head west away from spine say into downtown Manchester during certain events, really not that far from where I live. Still windy, but not close to same level. Also interesting that even during some intense wind events with snow or rain, the rates can stay pretty high, guess because I'm so close to the ridge, there is still some downsloping and loss of precip I'm sure, but not like say DDH which is 3-5 miles away from the spine(about 1/4 mile for me). They don't do snow there l, but I see it all the time in rainy windy East flow wind events looking at precip totals.

Yea, for sure. I'm totally cleared out to the east, so pretty unobstructed wind flow. Wonder how accurate Davis anemometer is say compared to ASOS. @dendrite would probably know. Im sure I've probably been weenieing out and overestimating some wind events since being here, but some are just nuts. We'll see i guess.

Had a 39MPH gust on my Davis last night-- highest I've had since I got it in Spring. Sighting is ground level about 4-5ft now. Have an antenna pole coming this week to roof mount that anemometer. Curious to see if that will make a difference and how much.

I have a freakish Oak that is like 95% green. You can see it in the pic-- weird. It just won't change.

I happen to live in a random thicket of Oak and Beech, so it's not totally representative of the area in general. I took this shot below about a mile away at like 750'. Hillsides are pretty bare, not full on stick season quite yet, but my woods are probably more anomalous honestly that the bigger picture feel.

Definitely behind here a bit on leaf drop. Top pic is 2019 and bottom is today on same date. Or maybe 2019 was a bit early, who knows.

Finally did the damn thing..

I redid a few areas in AUG with a TTTF/KBG mix and definitely went to heavy on the seed. Came in way too thick and now overcrowded in spots and lighter green in cooler comapred to the areas I seeded a little lighter which are much darker and healthier. More is not always better. Oh well, it will thin out over time.

Skeeters were outrageous tonight at my daughter's soccer practice around dusk. Need a frost ASAP.

Yea, with as many Oaks as you have mulching would be tough because Oak leaves are huge and hard to chop up small enough. I mean, I mulch mow when I can, but I also bag leaves too and have a backpack blower when needed.

Not true Kevin, mulching leaves will barley change the PH, the benefits far outweigh any tiny PH change(adding organic matter, organic fert). Only thing with Oak leaves are they are a pain to mulch mow compared to like Maples which chop up easier. I mulch as much as I can and bag mow when it gets to thick.
