  1. You only need 3 tools. Hammer, screwdriver, duct tape. Those will fix EVERYTHING
  2. Yup. First half chief timer for our divisional. got asked last night. Only got one kid in it and she will be done after fly which is the second event this year. Wooo. Staying for the whole meet will be gross if no shade. And we have our awards banquet in the evening. Pain. But then its done which is always a relief but bittersweet.
  3. My drought started last night when everyone else had storms but moi
  4. Storm bust down here. Nary a drop. Whomp whomp
  5. It will fill in like it does in winter. Said no one ever
  6. But I’m also sorry. It can’t be fun
  7. This will make you better prepared for tropical storms
  8. Damn, son. it's like you live in TX
  9. Hamlet is a nice pool but just ill suited to an event like this. Not sure there is a pool that is the best to be fair. But part of the problem is the D1 pools. They act like they own the place no matter where it is. They get charter buses to take the swimmers and family and a whole f-ton of others. then they hog all the bleachers. I get they usually have the most kids and relays and all that but that shouldn't mean you get to deprive all the other pools a chance to see their kids swim. Its just douchey. So you have a ton of other people that have to only sit for single event viewing and it makes for congestion and a lot of rude ass people. Our kids swam great tho and even managed a 2nd for one relay. It feels so good to beat those D1 teams. I'm proud of the kids and I love cheering for them and getting looks from these upper D teams who go "who is that team?" I saw that you guys were able to get a relay there. For little kids it can be intimidating and scary as hell. When my girls went it was around that age and they were nervous wrecks. So were us parents. Even if they didn't do great just celebrate that they went cause its something they can NEVER take away from them. My oldest daughter won't go to all stars anymore but I tell her that she went, swam well and NO ONE can take that from her. She earned it. Your team EARNED it. Remember there are 102ish teams. 17,000 kids swim. Your 4 got to go. Only 17 other teams did for that event. Thats impressive.
  10. Man I hope NVSL finds a different pool for relays next year
  11. I do know them! Sorry to have poached them from y'alls hood.
  12. Nice! Was a pretty good storm. I saw some weak rotation in that soup of fun clouds as it passed here. Horizontal in nature but was rolling. Needed this last night when we did a B meet at the pool in your hood
  13. Damn good storm. Gust Front was legit. Had to be 40+ as trees bent and a neighbor across the street had a tree snap off and fall into their yard. I think it missed the house
  14. The Real Pool Dads of DC suburbs
  15. We had OKM in our Div a few years ago. Crushed us. So they will be in D1 before long. Hope for only 1 div jump. 2 wouldn't be awful. There are lots of fun teams down there. The change really only starts to happen from D10 up. Thats when you encounter the nicer pools here and there and the turned up noses. Well, we are a dumpy pool. Built in the 50s/60s on a piece of land that wasn't developed. Bath house is tiny and old. But a hill on one side gives great views! We are 100% punching above our weight class as far as niceties for where we are. Places like Chesterbrook have 3x or more the operating budget than we do. They can hire This Old House to fix their pool while the board begs me to go fix a backstroke flag pole and I use a hammer and wood shims to hold it in place and cross fingers. Edsall Park has a soft spot in my heart. Had friends back in HS that swam there when they actually had a bigger team. We've also tried to help them at B meets by swimming there to spend money and let kids swim. They tried to merge with BrenMar years ago to bolster things and then BrenMar stopped having swim teams. I will root like hell for Edsall but feels like their days are numbered too.
  16. We wet for the A meets tomorrow morning
  17. Great for my old work but awful for everyone else. And it will set us up for when it does get hot. Brown dry grass will burn better after fires start from a lightning strike. We all burn and DCA reports a trace of ash
  18. Missed out on everything. Tumbleweed time
  19. We are seeing some teams around us fly up 3,4,5 divisions from one year to the next. Covid played a role the last two years as some teams got stronger and some suffered. I think this year is more of a normal year for teams. The year we went 2-3 we did well at divisional relays and they still moved us up. We got 3rd tonight so that will probably keep us where we are even if we go 2-3 again. Our coaches really want to win our last meet this summer cause the pool we face is partly a rival. We’ve done B meets with them in years past. It does get to be less fun when you know some only care about wins and being high up in the standings. More eyes on you and you hear more comments. When you get to higher positions there is more expectation for the pools to be nicer and have better amenities. That ain’t us. Never have been. But that’s what some of our newer parents that join because of where we are now expect. And some other teams make shitty comments about our dumpy pool. Hey, it’s our pool. WE make the dumpy comments, not others. Lol Just keep rocking that fun mentality. Don’t give a rip about moving up. Keep egos and attitudes in check because you can go from Tom Brady to Ryan Leaf in one year. Cause keeping up with the Joneses ain’t fun. Be more Edsall Park who clearly don’t give a shit than Div 1 teams that charter buses and hog all the stands at all star events
