Only one kid of mine swam but dropped time in both her events. Not all star but big enough to show that some side work and lessons with an older swimmer paid off. Worked first half shift which was fine by me. Done before it got hot and could watch other kids we are friends with. Overall we have 8 kids going to all stars. Had a couple locked to go and a couple surprises. It will be a big group for us. We usually have 3-5 max. One kid is top seed so that’s good exposure for the pool. Congrats to you and your swimmers that made it in!

Gonna suck at divisionals today. The heat will be rough. Hey, @mattie g make sure you get your swimmers to hydrate and stay in the shade.

91 and just after 11. Gross

You only need 3 tools. Hammer, screwdriver, duct tape. Those will fix EVERYTHING

Yup. First half chief timer for our divisional. got asked last night. Only got one kid in it and she will be done after fly which is the second event this year. Wooo. Staying for the whole meet will be gross if no shade. And we have our awards banquet in the evening. Pain. But then its done which is always a relief but bittersweet.

Hamlet is a nice pool but just ill suited to an event like this. Not sure there is a pool that is the best to be fair. But part of the problem is the D1 pools. They act like they own the place no matter where it is. They get charter buses to take the swimmers and family and a whole f-ton of others. then they hog all the bleachers. I get they usually have the most kids and relays and all that but that shouldn't mean you get to deprive all the other pools a chance to see their kids swim. Its just douchey. So you have a ton of other people that have to only sit for single event viewing and it makes for congestion and a lot of rude ass people. Our kids swam great tho and even managed a 2nd for one relay. It feels so good to beat those D1 teams. I'm proud of the kids and I love cheering for them and getting looks from these upper D teams who go "who is that team?" I saw that you guys were able to get a relay there. For little kids it can be intimidating and scary as hell. When my girls went it was around that age and they were nervous wrecks. So were us parents. Even if they didn't do great just celebrate that they went cause its something they can NEVER take away from them. My oldest daughter won't go to all stars anymore but I tell her that she went, swam well and NO ONE can take that from her. She earned it. Your team EARNED it. Remember there are 102ish teams. 17,000 kids swim. Your 4 got to go. Only 17 other teams did for that event. Thats impressive.

Man I hope NVSL finds a different pool for relays next year

Nice! Was a pretty good storm. I saw some weak rotation in that soup of fun clouds as it passed here. Horizontal in nature but was rolling. Needed this last night when we did a B meet at the pool in your hood -

Damn good storm. Gust Front was legit. Had to be 40+ as trees bent and a neighbor across the street had a tree snap off and fall into their yard. I think it missed the house -

We had OKM in our Div a few years ago. Crushed us. So they will be in D1 before long. Hope for only 1 div jump. 2 wouldn't be awful. There are lots of fun teams down there. The change really only starts to happen from D10 up. Thats when you encounter the nicer pools here and there and the turned up noses. Well, we are a dumpy pool. Built in the 50s/60s on a piece of land that wasn't developed. Bath house is tiny and old. But a hill on one side gives great views! We are 100% punching above our weight class as far as niceties for where we are. Places like Chesterbrook have 3x or more the operating budget than we do. They can hire This Old House to fix their pool while the board begs me to go fix a backstroke flag pole and I use a hammer and wood shims to hold it in place and cross fingers. Edsall Park has a soft spot in my heart. Had friends back in HS that swam there when they actually had a bigger team. We've also tried to help them at B meets by swimming there to spend money and let kids swim. They tried to merge with BrenMar years ago to bolster things and then BrenMar stopped having swim teams. I will root like hell for Edsall but feels like their days are numbered too.
