I'm on the board for the pool I belong to. We have been working on plans for the possibility we will open with rules in place that follow the guidelines. For small neighborhood pools the list is daunting. One of the bigger issues is enforcement. Pools are mostly staffed with teenagers. they will now be asked to do things above and beyond what they are supposed to do. Training, supplies, cleaning, etc, etc, etc. And the policing they might have to do opens such a can of worms. We live in an age of entitlement where members don't want to listen and be told when they are doing or their kids are doing something wrong. It is a massive headache and without clear guidance from the health dept the planning for opening has been a nightmare.

What pool?

Not really given the phases we are looking at as things try to reopen. NoVa is still a hotspot per numbers and while other areas in the state might be able to get to phase 3 sooner the word I'm getting is that NoVa will take some time. Even if phase 2 comes June 10 it still limits crowds to 50 people. Can't run a swim meet with 50 people. So out of an abundance of caution and not keep people in limbo they made the call. Def sucks but wasn't a surprise. We will adjust and make the best we can out of things.

I am doing a project to scrape and power wash peeling paint off the cinder block and brick sides of my house. I’m ready to paint and this same kid came up to me and said she wanted to help. I almost had a stroke. Her helping me is actually great and I can’t wait to work on this with her.

My middle school kid wants to go back. Which is surprising given her dislike of the amount of work they made her do

Some people can't help themselves and others suffer because of it. Then we(mods) get labeled as playing favorites. Lots of victimhood up in there when its always on the poster to make better posts.

While y'all obsess on fakesnow model panels if you look at today its butt chilly and rainy. i don't mind cool wx in May but not cold wx in May.

lol. I should let my kids play with fireworks because the rule is asinine. Oh wait, thats not allowed because my kids can die because i'm too dumb to be a parent. You can't parent as you see fit if society has deemed it harmful to the child.

I can only assume that those who won't get a vaccine are already ones that dont and get their info from dubious news sources that fill their heads with other fear mongering type stuff.

I've got two kids that will be due for their annual check ups in the next month. We will call their pediatrician and follow their recommendations for the wellness check. If parents are being too stupid to do similar things then not much we can do. But parents not immunizing their kids has been going on long before this crisis. There isn't an easy solution to bad parenting.

There was a subset(you) that flocked here all weekend to post on and on about how hospitals aren't slammed so we should just take off all these oppressive restrictions and pedal to the metal.

And I have seen parents doing all they can to make their kids comfortable with all this. Video chats, outside activities, hanging out with family and neighbors at a safe distance. Sounds like you are the one more into fear porn by reading stories to push a narrative.
