No, showme, I am not surprised at how many people feel the way you do. Again, there is nothing that says you have to stay here or go. But there is also nothing that says people with your viewpoints have to be protected or given special treatment. This board can remain as neutral as it wants to be until people interject their bias(yes, bias) into a discussion. Once you do that then only you are responsible for what that might cause

We dont know what he is other than an enigma

Sigh Sometimes there is just no way to make some people understand their own role in how things have come to be. Yes, I mean you, Showme. Randy told us(mods and helper mods) that he didn't want any COVID stuff on the wx side. But as the crisis unfolded and demand from people here to try and have a fact based discussion grew we let the one thread exist. The hope was that people would stick to facts. It was a naive thought. This crisis has and always will be political due to the current climate. We asked that people try to remain above it. but here's the problem. Everyone comes at it with a bias that is shaped by their political beliefs. Some can hide this agenda better than others, some can't. You might have thought you didn't show any bias, Showme, but you did. And when you got pushback and it veered into a political tangent things were done that you didn't like. And you stomped off. If you want an echo chamber that gives you the feels so that your view on this stuff can be cheered then I'm sure you can find one. Calling this place a "liberal country club" when there have been less than 5% of posts hidden is just lol. Yes, the current admin is frowned upon here by most. Why? Its a science board and for the most part science is under attack because of how it usually disputes what is being said by a certain group of people. But you and others have been allowed to speak and post without bannings or suspensions or the like. If people are acting towards you and treating you different than before its your responsibility to ask yourself what did YOU do to cause that. Its not always everyone else that is intolerant or in the wrong. This is like your third post where you dramatically threaten to leave. If you need to make that choice then so be it. Go and continue to live your life. Or realize what this board is and make the best of it. There are places to post and discussions that can be had w/o venturing into an area you disagree with. I don't go into the Climate Change threads because of that. \ I had other thoughts to add to refute most of what you said but its early and the coffee hasn't kicked in. To sum up, you risked any alienation you now have when you decided to put your input and bias into a discussion and it didn't go well. Plain and simple. if you didn't like the response then own up to how you did it. No one made you join in the discussion. You did so freely and it was because the people in charge allowed it to happen so that people could have a chance to discuss stuff. Now if you choose to leave then just do it. if no then find places to post the stuff that you liked to post about before. If there are bridges you want rebuilt then make the effort to rebuild them instead of further burning them by throwing out accusations like you just did.

Snapshots of cases or deaths on a specific day aren’t anywhere near the best way to measure success or failure in what may/may not work
-
Then it is imperative for the ones knowledgeable about this to be the ones to dictate to the public and educate them that this is important and not have their current support for distancing “wane” If everyone listens to the recommendations and not the wackadoos bloviating on TV and social media then I don’t think they will suddenly want everything open
-
But you are guessing as well. Call it wishing if you want. if the facts say May 15 is too soon will you accept that?
-
By most guesses that is probably too soon. We will be into the shutdown by about 2 months and its still not clear how long places that have done this can be affected by the curve flattening.

For what reason would the hospitals and ECs NOT be overwhelmed right now? Might it be that the reason is the restrictions that HAVE been in place for a while has helped mitigate mass numbers like NY/NJ? So to use that as reason to open back up even if slowly just defeats all the effort to limit the spread of the virus. It is counter intuitive to open things back up when cases in VA have not started to fall in any sort of noticeable fashion. What you "feel" is right doesn't replace or make more important the recommendations by people who know what we are dealing with. Everything is weird and its not right and life is turned upside down. But sit and think for a min. Are you really, truly suffering? Do you have health and security? Is the desire to go back to your version of normal so great that common sense is dismissed?
-
Simple question. Are the number of cases in VA increasing or decreasing day to day? Comparing VA to the WORST place hit by this is lol
-
Flex tape will take care of it.
-
Makes sense to start opening things back up!!!
-
ego and ignorance got us to where we are now. We could have been soooooooo much better and I think that is the real shame.

The sepia tones make this so much more attractive

Wind and chilly day. Just like we all want. And then it will rain some later this week

I'm sure if I watch this i will get pissed off at certain things that we both know are not allowed to be discussed here. We cannot speak of the things we are not allowed to say of which we cannot speak of. The one that shall not be named is tops on that do not talk about list.

I’m nearing 50(not yet this year) and in good shape. But I know younger people than me who have it and they are beat up. I don’t want it. What it might could can has potential to do scares me.

Totally meh here. Had more maple tree helicopter precipitation than actual precipitation

Sorry. I just bristle at the notion that workers are expendable and we have to sacrifice as much as we do to keep jobs and earn an income. I would love for this drastic change to how things are done spur a shift in what we value and how the worker matters more than they do now. People are suffering and I am still very lucky to have what I have. But it is a risk and I dont want others to be subjected to it if they dont have to. I keep hearing how essential workers should be given a bonus or this or that. If I am eligible for one because of what I do I would rather it go to someone else who even risked more than me or someone really affected by this and needs to pay bills or buy food.

too many shitheads shaving their heads and flushing

Have you gone into your job every day? I know I have. Because my job and place of work needs to stay open. And what I do doesn't give the luxury of office work every day. My fear of going out is replaced by having to be the sole income earner for my family. So while you armchair QB there are plenty of people just like me who have done all we can to work and not get sick. To force people to go in just because there is a cubicle empty is irresponsible. And to threaten firing is even more so. Accommodations have already been made for many to work and can still be done that way.
-
So maybe its up to business to change the dynamic. More people can work from home and still get shit done so who needs a ton of office space. You seem to contradict yourself by insisting business just fire people and find others if they can just work from home.
-
So you lose your job because work wants to risk your life. Gotta love capitalism. This is exactly what we are trying to avoid. The need to work over health and safety.
-
This is after I saw something last night that numbers were improving for VA. Seems the weekend lag is the cause.
-
The morning looks like it could be more cloud free than previous threat days. Might be a sneaky severe day. Jinx! No Jinx!!

I just looked. Damn. I could spend hours and $$$ getting things brought to me
