If you look at satellite you can see the fronts from where the clouds are moving. There's a dead area between the southerly wind fired storms to the back door front ones in MD.

growing up near Dunn Loring there was a siren but it was for the fire department to get the volunteers in for an large emergency.

Eastern part of CO is VERY flat. So its easy to get them there just as much as KS or OK

Had that issue quite a bit both winter and summer when we had the old wood ones. Single pane and just totally inefficient. Replacing them with double pane and better quality made a huge difference.

Afternoons can still get noisy but I find that its more focused to individual trees. When they flock to a tree thats when it gets almost ear shattering.
