BWI: 17” DCA: 14” IAD: 21” RIC: 12” Tiebreaker (SBY): 13”

I don’t usually have high hopes for December but the next few weeks look interesting.
-
I was 12 and I obsessively watched the Weather Channel, and had a NOAA weather radio.
-
Oh yeah, the following October had one of the greatest pattern changes that I've ever seen. Early in the month, we still had that lousy summer pattern. Later that month, we got a (rainy) noreaster and then another rainy day where BWI had a high of 39 (a record cold high for the whole month). Soon enough the drought was wiped out, and then I knew that we were in for a great winter.
-
This data really says it all. I remember how horrible the 2002 drought was, and how hot, dry, and miserable that summer was. We've had a few minor droughts since then, but nothing has come close to the horror of summer 2002.
-
Honestly, looking back at the drought monitor data, you'll be able to see that we haven't had a widespread severe drought in the region in 20 years. We have been very fortunate. A lot of other regions of the country have not.

That was an impressive outflow yesterday. Very refreshing, and a bit dark. But it felt a lot more comfortable afterwards. -

Power was out for over 26 hours. By far the longest I've ever experienced. -

Lost power from very strong gusts almost an hour ago. Pouring now. -
After today and yesterday, I’m looking forward to some much more pleasant weather.

Weren't March 1958 and March 1960 very snowy?
-
Feels very much like a New England spring day.
-
I'm honestly shocked at the reports I'm seeing, and a little jealous
-
I'm going to the Poconos next weekend. I'm a big fan of some of these recent runs.
-
The 00s were an aberration IMO. That decade had a lot of early December storms, especially Dec 5th. I almost got used to it for some time.

Ended up with exactly 1”. I don’t think any of the models had us getting that much here, so this was a real surprise. So between today and yesterday, total is 3”.

Feb 12/13 Event Quest for Blues to Envelop More Rather Than Less
Fozz replied to North Balti Zen's topic in Mid Atlantic
This was better than yesterday's event. It looked like a real snowstorm this morning. -
It was really coming down a little earlier, now it’s just to my north but looks to sag south? Bring it!
