Was going to post the same. Maybe we heard the same one. Bring it on, Rain.

I'm on the edge of the NYC area, and got 3.35" in this afternoon, by my rain gauge on my deck. Raining again now. Gonna be a wet week for sure.

Got 3.35" on my little deck this afternoon. So far, but it has stopped for now. Juicy looking radar upstream, so we all get wet eventually, I think.
-
Same here over by Princeton. Line was robust enough to hold together, and well over an inch has fallen. Still raining lightly. Only a few claps of thunder. The trees can drink again.

Of all things, I definitely heard a ***katydid*** tonight, when I was walking outside. To me, it's way ahead of schedule, but I may be misremembering things. A sure sign of a warm summer. Thing was yakking furiously, as it does on warm nights.

Cicada bee I probably won't see, but I'm always happy to hear the first katydids, maybe 2-3 weeks from now. When they start yakking, it will be music to my ears, telling me that this hot summer is at least at its midpoint. Their raspy sound is actually soothing to me.

Heard a Summer Cicada buzzing today. First time this year, as if we needed a reminder that it is high Summer.

Overlooking the D&R Canal - Heard a Summer Cicada buzzing. First time this year, as if we needed a reminder that it is high Summer. -
I know the feeling. Nada here this afternoon, in the Princeton NJ area. Just some thunder and wind. Had 0.2" early this AM. Late sun is out now.
-
Looks as though Central NJ north of Trenton is getting shorted. This happens frequently enough to be a fit subject for study.
-
Here in the Princeton Junction area, picked up .49", and am happy with that, since we were shorted badly on previous occasions.
-
Been thundering here too. Not a good day for picnics, for sure.
-
Yep. Been wondering why no thread. But here it is. Snow - all of 2.1" of it.

Two Mdt to high impact events NYC subforum; wknd Jan 6-7 Incl OBS, and mid week Jan 9-10 (incl OBS). Total water equiv by 00z/11 general 2", possibly 6" includes snow-ice mainly interior. RVR flood potential increases Jan 10 and beyond. Damaging wind.

2.2" for the event so far. Nearly continuous rain/drizzle - never heavy for long - haven't seen such a long duration event since I moved back East in 2003. Was in Seattle in an El Nino year - 1998? it reminds me of that event.

Sorry to continue OT here, but this idea comes to mind: https://scripps.ucsd.edu/news/californias-salton-sea-may-be-staving-earthquakes-it-disappears Flooding or refilling the Salton Sea may trigger a San Andreas Fault earthquake. Not something to wish for. PS: I reposted this in the OT section. Sorry I don't know how to move it with my old browser software.

About the same amount here, around 3 or 4 AM. Just over an inch.

That storm grazed me, passing to the north. Radar clearly showed it rotating counterclockwise. It was full of lightning, as noted by others. Am not a big fan of 3AM storms with all of that CG lightning and thunder, but they have been rare of late, so enjoy them, if you are so inclined.
