Similar here too Powell. Temp 34. Dewpoint 31. Something that I don’t understand is that most, if not all the modeling, including the NAM has accumulating snow with dewpoints and of course temps around 33-34. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it snow and stick when the dewpoint was above freezing. Of course, we see it happen when the temps and dewpoints are crashing, but not this way usually? I guess the NAM is thinking the rates will be so heavy that will overcome the dewpoints and temps? -

Temp is currently 36 with a dewpoint of 27. I’m under yellow returns on radar and actually have a few flakes making it to the surface. -

25 degree dewpoint here in NE Hamblen Co. The NE wind working it’s magic here in the valley for sure! -

Went skiing with my son today at Sugar Mtn. In a way I wish that I could have been here to see it come through. I have a friend that says it snowed about 1-1.5in near his house which is just a couple miles away. So have to assume it was similar at the house. It did melt quite a bit today, but definitely could tell when we got back that it had snowed, as there was still some left on the rooftops and in the yard. Meanwhile at Sugar, they were reporting 5in yesterday and it snowed from about 11:30-4 today, pretty heavy at times. That combined with the machines blowing all day made for some excellent skiing conditions! -

That was nice while it lasted! Looked like it was around 36-40 DBZ on radar! -

And now my goodness I’m under an extremely heavy band that is just dumping heavy snow up to 3/4 in on the picnic table and even trying to stick to the concrete walkway. -

Lot of fine flakes but it’s really coming down hard! Temp now 31 and have a light dusting on the car and grass. Flake size has definitely increased now! Back to nickel sized and just pouring snow! -

Now have snow with some nickel sized flakes! -
Getting a sleet shower here currently. Not much of anything on radar though, maybe it’s below the beam? Interesting none the less.

Actually more flakes now looks pretty cool borderline light snow from time to time. Good sized flakes. It looks like it’s moving from NE to SW. Don’t we usually see that when an upper low is off to the East/NE and rotating moisture back down the valley? Could there be a weak shortwave in the flow producing this activity this AM?

Yes. That’s right. Actually I just looked out and saw a couple flakes right now. Just a stray here and there. Better than nothing I guess

Wow thanks for sharing Holston. I’m off exit 15 on I81. Should have gotten up earlier. I could have run up the road a couple exits. I actually live on a ridge extension of Bays Mtn, known as Little Mtn, but it’s not helping me this AM. Nairy a flurry in the air that I’ve seen so far.

Decent snow shower rolling through right now here, mixed with graupel too. Looks like it was really coming down just to my south

Currently getting some snow actually mixed in with the rain at the house. 10min ago I was sitting at 44 degrees dewpoint 31. I got up to go grab a drink of water and noticed it was 41, so I figured something must be falling. Looked outside and noticed it was mostly rain, but there were a few snow grains hitting the glass picnic table and melting.

Picked up 2.26in of rain for the total from this event. Way more than it first appeared would fall. This system was definitely an overproducer!

Had a pretty good storm here too about 30min ago. Kinda caught me off guard a little bit. My son and I were out scouting some land a friend of ours owns. I noticed it was getting mighty dark, I just figured it was about to rain soon, when all of a sudden I saw a flash of lightning and asked him, was that lightning. Sure enough it was! There were several more intense flashes, and then the bottom fell out for a few minutes. Still getting moderate rain.

Man John I hate to hear that. Do you have any left worth trying to salvage? Aside from putting a couple guard dogs there to protect it, another trick my grandfather and I used to use on our melon patch was urine. Now before anyone laughs me off and thinks I'm crazy, it actually works. The human scent will repel animals. Just have to save enough containers like milk jugs and cool whip containers to scatter around the patch. Of course it requires a strong stomach to do this, but if you do this and keep it out there, you will be surprised at how it helps. You will have to replace it if it rains and or after about a week, but it was always worth it to do for our melon patches. We had several 5-10 acre sized fields that we raised watermelons and cantaloupes on when I was growing up. We always sold them to grocers and wholesale buyers. It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. Taught me a lot about hard work and the benefits of doing it. Something a lot of kids are missing these days. Brings back a lot of memories, but I digress though. Fwiw though that technique will work.

Well, I mentioned I'd update y'all on this vine okra. It's been coming in ever so slowly but finally looks as though it's gonna come on and produce well. Here is an example of what it looks like. This particular pod is laying right on the ground actually in the grass. I have some more pods up off the ground and will try to get a pic of a bigger one tomorrow. The fruit tastes a lot like okra but is a little sweeter, a little crunchier, and definitely goes a lot further, as the pods grow over a foot long and are still tender at 10-12in long. I would definitely grow it again, just need a better trellis and setup than what I have.
