Visiting Deep Creek Lake for basically the first time (stopped in once in the fall 10 years ago). Any suggestions of scenic/photogenic/natural places to visit? I have DCL SP, Herrington Manor, & Swallow Falls on my list to visit. Also potentially Coopers Rock & Blackwater Falls too.

2026 Mid-Atlantic Severe Storm General Discussion
ThePhotoGuy replied to Kmlwx's topic in Mid Atlantic
This was the strongest and most damaging storm that I have ever witnessed in my area in Pasadena. At least 10 times worse than the derecho. Over 2 dozen trees knocked down on homes and cars in my neighborhood and another community. I saw at least 5 homes marked unsafe for entry by county inspections. I haven't ventured further down Fort Smallwood where there is even more destruction.- 1,481 replies

Extensive damage throughout my neighborhood. Over 20 separate homes with trees laying on them. Trees down everywhere. Telephone poles snapped in half. Neighbors keep saying a tornado went through the area. Luckily no damage at the house but no power.- 1,481 replies

Might be a little far (maybe 15-20 mins) from Columbia but... Mt. Pleasant (Howard Conservancy) (https://howardnature.org/mt-pleasant/) visited there once last summer and it had some nice trails/wildlife. Shrine of St Anthony (https://shrineofstanthony.org/grounds) has some nice trails in the woods. Very scenic views of the countryside (especially in the fall).

Clouds and fog at 830 am kind of set the stage for the severe potential was going to be low and rain showers at 11 made it known. Afternoon "storm" was meh. Actually was more windy in the morning then when the storm came through. No lightning or thunder. 0.31 for the day.
