  1. This was the main road yesterday at the height of the storm, just before changeover to sleet. Now completely clear
  2. The gym was closed this morning due to weather, but now I don't even need to go in. It was back day but smashing through that glacier and clearing the sidewalk, my steps and space around my gigantic van was a 90+ minute back and leg workout. That stuff is extremely heavy and difficult to move around. Holy smokes. Within 10 minutes I had stripped off my jacket. Now well over freezing. Everyone *should* be able to go back to school and work tomorrow.
  3. I think we managed to stay at or below freezing all night. No evidence of any FRZ overnight. Just a glacier out there, but the road crews realllly overcompensated for their failures in the prior big storm. Main drag is now not only driveable, but pavement is clearly visible! Almost time to shovel out. Need a bit more coffee...
  4. Dry slot is here in Charlottesville. Might have escaped with minimal icing, which is a welcome change. Almost no power outages. Right at the freezing mark or thereabouts. A very enjoyable Sunday storm I must say. Will be interesting to see conditions in the morning. Peace!
  5. And now currently "unknown precipitation" according to NWS. My personal favorite.
  6. Local totals from Charlottesville/Albemarle. Pretty solidly forecasted.
  7. This sleet is so heavy it sounds like hail, not just your standard pingers.
  8. Official spotter had 3.1" at 3:16pm. So I think our measurements of 4-5 or so depending on the drift is about right. That last hour was WILD.
  9. BIG flakes mixing back in with the sleet. So it may not be entirely over for people when they see a switch over. I gotta say I have never seen it sleet at 22F.
  10. Changeover has happened. Some flakes still in there but not pouring buckets of sleet. Probably got a good 4.5" of snow before that though. I'll take it.
  11. Yeah it is WILD. If we had a little more wind it would be positively crazy. At least 3” on the ground. 23F at my location. SN+ CHO reports “heavy snow” Love it.
  12. Okay so basically as soon as church started it started RIPPING here in Cville. Huge fatties out there and it’s pouring.
  13. Afternoon church service time. Here’s what it’s like out there tho: https://mobile.twitter.com/forecaster25/status/1482786486777004038
  14. Sidestreets downtown covered. Still pouring cold smoke. Now THAT was a Jebwalk!
  15. Not as much snow in Cville but the temp situation has been the same. If anything temps inched DOWN as the precip came in. Now at 18F
  16. This is still absolutely cold smoke here in Cville. Very unusual.
  17. Under the radar, I think, is that Sterling now a little more aggressive on snow totals. Back to where we were prolly 36 hours ago. Ice prospects definitely declining.
  18. OK now main road in Cville has caved. But still plenty passable.
  19. Definitely would call it mod snow now. Actually cooled a tad and back to 19F in my part of Cville. Sidewalks and road shoulders all covered.
  20. You're not alone. Many cases where high expectations for the thump are left unmet.
  21. I live on a main road in Cville so my chief focus through the midday will be when the road caves. They pretreated the ever-loving-hell out of the main arteries. And the 5th Street Station (large strip mall) parking lot this morning was filled with linemen and their trucks ready to deploy for any power outages. Must have been 30 trucks there.
