  1. 3.7 inches as of 5:30. Great rates between 2-4 pm Nice little storm so far, breaking 6 would be nice. 27.5° and snow continues
  2. Pre storm prediction for Highland Mills, 6.7 inches. Anything less than 5 at this point will be a major disappointment.
  3. Everything north of southern Westchester has been on a winter storm watch since yesterday. If their confident enough in warning criteria, which is at least 6 inches, I'm sure they will issue at 4 PM. What would you have liked them to do differently?
  4. Ended up with a surprise 0.4 inches yesterday. Pretty much gone now except for a few shady spots.
  5. I'm actually gonna be down there eating tonight. I'll have to check that out.
  6. Bottomed out at 9 degrees this morning. A couple of sub zero nights next week, maybe we see some river ice by middle of next week? Haven't seen that for a few years.
  7. Four days without a post. Pretty much sums up things.
  8. Surprisingly in Central Park, the period Jan 1968-Dec 1977 is the lowest 10 year period at 18.7 inches. Barely beating out Jan 1983-Dec 1992 at 18.8 inches. If you go by seasonal 10 year periods, July 1 through June 30 the results might differ slightly. Of course the golden 10 year period was Jan 2009 through December 2018 which averaged 38.6 inches of snow in the Park.
  9. It's funny how many people seem to miss that point completely. We keep raising the bar against the averages by recalculating every ten years. A better comparison would be to compare the current monthly average temperatures against the average temperature from 1870-1979. I use that period because the noticeable increases seem to accelerate in the 1980's. If you use those instead of the NEW 1991-2020 averages this would just be another above normal month. December 2024 would also be above normal.
