  1. Over the last 30 years how many seasons were the Orioles competitive/made the playoffs? 6 maybe? Most of those years the Angelos family has owned the team. That needs to change.
  2. I ran the sprinkler the last 2 nights. Despite over 5.5" for the month, my soil is now parched. Doesn't take more than a few days without rain this time of year. And nothing more than widely scattered low probability chances over the next week.
  3. Time to fire up the drought thread yet?
  4. Yeah its not bad- yet. Temp is 86 here and very tolerable humidity. Both will be on the upswing in the coming days.
  5. Bring on training camp. The Ravens are young and exciting, and pretty stacked with talent. Baseball season around here is awful- the Os are just pathetic and sad- historically bad- and the Nats are perfectly mediocre. Redskins? Who cares.
  6. Those chili cheese dogs tho! lol I wont eat that crap now.
  7. It would be nice if the Nino persists into fall and early winter. Models generally either have a weak Nino or trending to neutral towards fall. Last time I looked at the CPC ENSO update it had odds of a Nino persisting into fall at around 50%.
  8. I know it was a good chunk of July but not sure when it set in. Needless to say it was the worst time for a hot dry spell, and for the umpteenth time, did in much of my grass. That's what finally got me motivated to start on the fire pit surround- mostly an attempt to further shrink my grass area. More mulch/plants/stones, and less lawn to constantly reseed.
  9. Nada here. Just a hot and dry week ahead.
  10. I have had plenty of rain here, but the sun- and now combined with the heat- is overwhelming. Same thing happens every summer at this time- the areas in the yard that get the most sun burn to effing hell, and go to thatch. Not recoverable outside of reseeding in the Fall.
  11. Few being the operative word lol. Best chance is probably your area into SE PA and maybe NE MD and N DE. Latest HRRR run as a nice cell pretty close to my yard tho.
  12. Had a few drops here. Not bad out tho- 80/72. Was just outside watering my plants and (browning) grass and it felt quite comfortable. Not a single skeeter bite either. That's the best news.
  13. That low is tracking pretty far NW- too far for much of a squall line to get going in most of our region, esp given the timing much later. So spits and sprinkles it is.
  14. Had nearly an inch of rain last Thursday evening, and over 5" in the last couple weeks, but my soil is already getting powdery. If you have well drained sandy/silty soil like I do, it only takes a few days with no rain this time of year. Ofc I also have big trees all around and they pull the moisture from the surface. I even have some brown grass in spots, and I don't have much to begin with. I hope my expansive clover field holds up, otherwise my yard will be mostly dirt by the fourth of July lol.
  15. Don't worry- a long duration, sustained +NAO will lock in around mid November. Like clockwork.
  16. The original "BOMB CYCLONE".
  17. I only remember last winter I was pretty much at average the 2 winters before that- a bit above one of those 2. What really made those winters were the Jan chases at the beach. Without that, completely ordinary and boring stretch in my yard the last few years.
  18. Thanks. I can understand that, but around here (unfortunately) that's not too high on the list of concerns lol.
  19. Kind of a long story. I love natural stone materials, so I wanted to face the concrete block with slate. Hard to find good quality gauged 12 x 12 slate though. I found exactly what I wanted and ordered 2 boxes of 10 on Wayfair. It arrived with some pieces chipped and broken, which was to be expected. The worst part was the ones that were "good", were mostly nowhere near square. They were parallelograms lol. Horrible cuts. They gave me a refund. Anyway I could not find the gray slate I wanted anywhere, so I settled for a slate-like look porcelain tile from lowes. Turned out ok and should hold up just as well.
  20. Low of 60 here. Nice morning. Should be a bit cooler tonight.
  21. I don't think I did see it. Very nice though. Yours looks much nicer than mine. I did mine quick and dirty and on the cheap- for about 150 bucks, with materials from Lowes(other than the firebrick). I made mine so I didn't have to cut any block or stone, although I did end up having to cut a couple of firebrick. What did you use on the top? Almost looks like firebrick on that pic. I ended up going out so tonight will be the inaugural fire lol. eta- post a daytime photo of your firepit, so I can see it better.
  22. Might have to try out the new firepit tonight.
  23. Picked up 0.85" yesterday with a few rounds of showers. Over 5.5" for the month.
