It looks and feels like a storm is coming. Alas, it's currently 37F with a wind advisory posted for tomorrow and maybe, just maybe I will see a flake blowing around down here in the morning. I think any squall warnings with be localized more north and west of me. So strange as I was just getting used to the warm/dry late fall. I never thought I'd say that. LOL

DP 66. Yuck. I couldn't open my front door to get outside this morning, went out the back door after I turned the AC on to run on low temp. Yuck, but glad I don't live down south right now. Those poor people.

Picked up my happy pills last night. Seems I will need them being stuck in these clouds with showers for days and days. Helene looking like a very impactful storm for many. .LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... As is the case with upper level lows, the forecast for the extended is a bit tricky. The upper level low that will eventually absorb Hurricane Helene will be positioned somewhere over the Ohio River or Tennessee River Valley on Sunday with the region positioned on the northeast quadrant of the closed low. This looks to bring some unsettled weather, but no day will be a washout. We look to be in for more days of clouds with periods of on and off showers until the upper level low moves offshore or transitions to more of an open wave. This looks to occur sometime Monday or Tuesday, though we will not kick the clouds/showers until midweek, with guidance hinting at a cold front coming through and a pattern change (finally).

This is my place on the Elk River where it goes out to the Bay. Getting pretty close to the cottages, however it should go under if it gets that far. Nice neighbor down there today sent these and moved a bunch of stuff for us. For reference I took the storm cloud pic last Saturday

Of course, my daughter picks 8.2.24 to get married and it will be hot and humid. Ceremony is outdoors, but dinner and reception will be inside. They are still cleaning up around here from the storm 2 weeks ago. I must have passed 4 of these crews on my errand journey this morning. It's 83 w/dew of 73 so feels like 90. Happy for the cloud cover.

They are still cleaning up around here from last Tuesday night. Lots of orange cones everywhere along the roads. I haven't seen any reports of a tornado touching down, and the damage is so widespread that it had to be straight line winds. Still a few roads closed, and around 900 without power. Mine was restored Friday morning. Ordered a piece of glass. Hope I can repair it myself without hiring someone. Currently having a shower @ 77F

I'm guessing straight line winds caused all the damage. It was brutal. Was sitting there watching it out the front door and then heard glass breaking in my bedroom. House is old so the windowpane that broke was no match for the wind. Large limb next door took out the back windshield of my neighbors' car. The entire play area of Tick Tock Day Care center is destroyed. Route 41 a nightmare with traffic, and no idea how long it will be to get power back. I slept on a towel in my bathing suit. Work is OK so I am currently in AC! More storms later? Doing my best not to stress, but it's pretty bad here.

Had to dump some more oil in the tank. I think I could have made it, but to be safe in case this goes well into April. I hate chilly Easter's. 52F Now-at least had full sun today. -
Temp has held steady all morning at 33F. Still snowing but back edge is getting close. 1/2 hr. to go probably. Although my location was on the lower side of accumulation, it still did a number on the evergreens.
