Wow, you're lucky to have so little melting where you are. Here in Piscataway a lot of lawns were bare before this morning's event. My front lawn (which gets a ton of sun) had almost no snow left ... just a few tiny patches. My back lawn (which is much shadier) did have over an inch in spots. We'll have to see if today's inch lasts this afternoon with the sun coming out and it getting up to the upper 30s. I doubt it will in sunny spots. Does it count as a white Christmas if the back lawn has snow but the front lawn doesn't? LOL. Unlike where you live, here it's going to be a mix with some ground covered with snow and some not having any. It'll be nice to at least have some in spots though.

Low temp of 5 here this morning.

Hopefully between what we have now and what we get Tuesday morning, we'll have enough for a white Christmas. There definitely will be some melting Tuesday afternoon though with temps getting to the upper 30s. It's going to be close. I already have patches of bare ground here in spots that get a lot of sun. I would think the shady areas will still have some on Christmas morning.

Piscataway will probably go a little lower than Plainfield but yeah, I'd be surprised if you don't get down to high single digits.

Low temp of 12 here this morning. Tonight will be the first night of the season that we get down to single digits here. Wouldn't be surprised if we get down to 5.

Took a ride out to Hunterdon County to go to Sweet Melissa Patisserie (the best bakery in NJ IMO) to bring home some dessert for tonight, and it was really nice out there (they got over 4 inches). It's always beautiful driving through the country after a snowfall .... snow falling out of the trees and beautiful scenes with the farms covered with snow. Anyway back here at home I'm already starting to see some patches of bare ground in the sunny areas. A couple inches of snow doesn't last long when it's sunny with temps near freezing, but of course the snow will stay on the ground for days in spots that get more shade.
