First Below Zero Day In NYC Since 1994

Any thoughts on KFRG (Republic Airport, Farmingdale)? Only down to 3. Not only are the major official stations to the west and east at least a couple degrees colder (and now below zero in NYC), all the weather underground stations in close proximity are at or just below zero.

It usually runs a bit warm. Grew up in Melville and frg was always a bit warm.

watertown ny was at minus 34 this morning :P

They bottomed out at -37F and that beats the record of -30F set back in 79 and places them in top 3 of all time coldest, Below is the list of their all time record lows..

1: -43F set back in January 16th 1994 

2: -38F set back in January 4th 1981

3: -37F set back in December 25th 1980, December 27th 1989, January 22nd 2014, February 14th 2016

4: -36F set back in February 16th 2015

5: -35F set back in February 19th 2007

And the January Atlantic hurricane and near record SST's...near record Kara block...most active MJO for such

a strong El Nino...record Nino into region 4. Just an amazing collection of extremes all within the same season.

That's right, I keep forgetting we also had a hurricane. Winter 2015-2016: WTF?
