The 8.5" of snow on 1/5/2014 broke the record for the date of 6.2"(2005).The high temp of -2 and 1/6/2014 broke the record high min temp for the date of -1(1912).The low temp of -16 on 1/6/2014 broke the record low min temp for the date of -14(1988). The 12/31-1/2/2014(10.9") and 1/4-5/2014(11.7") snowstorms were the first "back-to-back" 10"+ snowstorms on record. Lots on TV seem to keep confusing the two, with some from the same station calling the 7th snowiest or 3rd snowiest winter on record, not discriminating between the .9" Chicago got in November...or not understanding the difference between the two.
