Well, that's what it said...  quote:

"We are also tweaking and reimaging the look of our social media spaces, effective Sunday. If you visit Phillyweather.net, you get redirected to Phillywx.com, which is a message board set up by a meteorologist and a weather enthusiast that are local to the area. The site provides really good weather discussion and we will link to event-specific discussion via Phillyweather.net's social media presence online.  The best part is that the said discussion is relatively low-hype and higher-brow, which is why working with them was a natural fit when I decided to change gears with the site's approach."

Though apparently it hasn't happened just yet.

Thanks. I did not know since I have not been on the weather forums much at all lately. I did notice earlier today though the announcement placed on the new weather forum.

what's the hold-up?  lets get things rolling.

combine all the votes from both sections, and it should be a "Yay"

The other poll was deleted.  And rightly so.  This subforum is really what the poll is about, so this is where the poll should be.

BTW, someone added a "no" vote.

Possible revote? I think a lot of people's opinion's may have changed since the board emptied out over the past two weeks. I think a lot of people (myself included) thought that the board would become more lively with a storm threat, but that hasn't really happened.

I had switched my vote to in favor of combining a week or so ago.  Most of us look at both forums anyway.

lol...what type of Republican response is that.

"this subforum is really what the poll is all about".

that's like saying FoxNews is the best, most honest, and most sympathetic news outlet.

anyway....

Not at all.  We all know NYC will dominate in an NYC/Philly merging.  "Its simple numbers; they have more" (sorry, had to throw in a Starship Troopers quote :P ).  NYC metro is 23 million.  PHL metro is 6 million.  I know that's why many have voted "no". But really, what the "merging" amounts to is the elimination of the Philly sub-forum.

I'm still in favor of it, but I can't lie about it.  It is what it is.

As a frequent browser of this site, please do not merge them back together...ever.

We had a boring couple of seasons for the most part.  People don't post when there is nothing to post about so it slows down.  Nobody should be surprised by that, and I don't know why anyone in the Philadelphia "Region" would want this forum to be merged with NYC as we have had completely different climatology.

The first big winter storm and this forum will blow up.  Otherwise, what is there to post about when it is perfectly average or otherwise non-exciting weather?

Posts like this do make quite a few members not want to bother participating on this forum at all.  Quality posters and obviously their posts are good.  If I wanted to read a million nonsense posts I would read the NYC forum.

Your comment about climatology is incorrect, NYC is quite close to PHL in that aspect. I don't know how someone could argue otherwise.

The weather between the northern Philadelphia COunties and Philadelphia/Chester has been enough of a difference in the last 5 years to argue otherwise.  Perhaps I am just bitter about the rain/snow line that always leaves the ground green or dry.  Even with major storms, there have been very few where the impact was the same between Philadelphia and NYC.

If the climatology argument falls on deaf ears, the quality posters and posts that we are fortunate enough to receive should not.

And the same difference exists between NYC's suburbs and NYC proper... What's your point?

Exactly.  There is that much of a difference that it wouldn't benefit anyone to combine the forums.  I thought that was the point of this thread?  Huh, maybe not.

It would constantly be "PHILADELPHIA WEATHER IN HERE" lost among the million NYC threads.  So instead of getting a forum where we could actually have quality topics, we would have one thread where everything is mixed in.

You misinterpret me.  Since NYC's suburbs are similar to PHL's suburbs, and PHL and NYC are similar... and very close together... and the posting population of PHL is now quite low... what's the point of having a separate PHL subforum?

Still waiting for more of those quality topics you mention... since the revolt a month ago, those "quality topics" have dwindled to none.

well, it couldn't get anymore boring and less active in the philly section...and this was before I even started posting here.

Plus, if your this sensitive you probably shouldn't be posting anywhere.

but who knows, maybe i'll get banned for speaking my mind.  can never tell with the touchy owners here.

There has been little to no "extreme" weather activity which sparks interest.  Go back to the active "years" and you can find where posters are more active.  And then look at the same active years, during off seasons, and you find the same lull in posts.  The weather has been average to meh.  I don't know what kind of threads you are looking for.

"TODAY, THE WEATHER IS PERFECTLY AVERAGE! POST UP YOUR TEMPERATURE!"

There are other sub forums on this forum to post out of region subjects in.  The truth has been, at least for the past 4 years or so, that extreme weather creates threads and brings back the quality posters and posts.

You don't appear to comprehend what has happened here.

Posting has dropped off because most posters have abandoned this sub-forum for the new phillywx.com forum.

Therefore, in reality a separate Philly sub-forum, here at amwx, with almost no active posters, is pointless.

So this thread was made to promote the other forum?  If you WANT it to go away, fine.

Fair enough.  Just say so.  I have no problem with it.  I enjoy browsing 5 different forums in the area when the weather is interesting.  It's always good to have different options.  But this is still a very active weather forum for the PHILADELPHIA region.  It also looks more active than the other forum (though it should as the othe forum is new).

Somebody felt the need to start a dedicated website to the Philadelphia Region so there must be some want or need among browsers to have a more isolated weather forum.  Unless this is some mod/admin forum war type thing, than this is just complete hypocrisy and a sham of a thread.

Again you fail to comprehend.

I was not very happy to see the other forum suck all the posters away from this one, but it is what it is.  Its done.

I was never very happy with the split between PHL and NYC in the first place.

I have said already that I think the split should go away.

If you think this is a "very active forum" now... you're delusional, quite frankly.

famartin, I hate to correct both of you.

But overall forum / social media activity has lowered pretty significantly on a whole...worldwide basis the last couple years.  This includes Facebook, Myspace, Forums , YouTube, and any place else where people can comment or put in their 2 cents.

Most likely due to all the NSA hype out there...everybody spying on everybody.    And "oh noez, they actually see our IP's too when we post?"  yes...they can... and who cares, I own forums as well.

It's common knowlledge all of this.  Even on Facebook...notice how people barely get comments or likes now...It's because everybody's all of a sudden gone into their own little shell. A lot of other forums have given up hope the last couple years as well.  This one's still hangin in there though.

Your barrage of posts on the other forum tell a different story.  You could just have easily posted in THIS FORUM where there would be more replies to your threads, than over there.

There are few dedicated forums to the Philadelphia Region and when weather comes, there are plenty of threads here.  Back to browsing I go (but only if this stays as a dedicated forum).

I post over in the other forum because that's where the action is.  Your comprehension failure is beyond words.

I like the other site, good format, and dedicated to the Philadelphia region.

But two of the exact same threads from you, started at roughly the same time, there are 5x's more views here, and nearly 4x's the posts.  I don't know how you comprehend that, but I see the pure numbers proving that there is more action HERE.  I'll let the numbers, not the words, speak for themselves.

I would rather have "PHILADELPHIA WEATHER IN HERE" being buried then no discussion about Philly weather period; which is what we have right now.

I assume you are referring to the winter snowfall one.  Its not hard to figure out why:  More posters from other sub-forums are around to wander in.  Some of the posts are from NYC posters here who have no reason to go over to the other sub-forum.

That was in reference to the OBS discussion for tonight/tomorrow (even though it's a non-event), the one that is usually up to date active and shows rather clearly where there is more forum member participation.
