Chicago WX
Thanks BowMe. Really though, how impressive is the 22.6" in May 1990 at Marquette? Or maybe the 10.0" at South Bend in 1929? Pretty cool.
Hoosier
Wonder about that 1897 event...no snow in the LAF records...did we actually get missed to the south?

Observer probably half-assed it. 0.31" liquid, T of snow recorded on May 2 at the WL COOP. Indy of course, had 2.4" that day.
beavis1729
Thanks again Tim. Great stuff, as always. Yeah, I'd have to say the Top 4 surprises on this list are: (1) 22.6" in MQT in May 1990 (2) 4.0" in STL in May 1929 (3) 10.0" in South Bend in May 1929 (4) 1.0" in Louisville KY in May 1898 For reference, Louisville's normal high on May 1 is 74. We also got sleet on May 6, 1989, that was Derby Day. I would have love to of seen the 1897 snowfall. I was only one when we got the sleet in 1989. Traces (1859) _________________________________________________________________ The Toronto City daily reports became less detailed in 2004 but there have been no measurable snowfalls at YYZ (Toronto airport) in those years. In fact, there has not been a measurable snowfall at the Toronto City location since 1967, just various trace amounts. Snowfall in May has sometimes amounted to 2-4 inches outside the city on dates with small measurable amounts. I can recall the events listed above in 1966 and 1967 where I was recording snow about 30 miles west of Toronto, and amounts of 2 to 3 inches fell, even more on higher ground further northwest. I have also seen lying snow in June in central Ontario but never in the Toronto region.
