0.50" of precipitation already at LAF, and reporting 32º and UP at 9:00am. It's just freezing rain here on the east side. Wind gust to 40 mph last hour as well. Pretty nasty...but if we were a degree or two colder, and this was going to last...

Dewpoints are in the mid 20's around the area so I would think you will drop a few degrees once precip starts and Kankakee is reporting snow already.

Another NAM run another blitzing. Key thing to keep an eye on today is temps. We jumped to 1.6c at the sfc as of 9am at YYZ. Don't want that number to get too out of hand.

Hey locals, question, will it be a gamble for me trying to connect thru midway airport tomorrow around 10am or should i change flights todays avoiding the area?

I've seen mixed forecast for tomorrow am in the area.

temp has dropped from 34 to 31 over the past couple of hours at LAF. an interesting development... should help keep freezing rain around for a while.

That is good news for most people that the temperatures are indeed dropping upstream as the precip starts.

Still think we look decent here, precip filling back in nicely in eastern IL/western IN and curling NNW into this area.

 

Should be snow at onset based on reports.

Freezing rain has come north as far as Warsaw IN one county south of me now.  Dews are in the low 20's across much of Michiana with temps before precip starts at 33-34 range.  Good to have the day off and watch this unfold as the reports come in.

That lasted 10 minutes. Sleet and Frz rain here now.

 

 

Yeah our temp will drop but timing is pretty much worse case scenario right now...areas south were able to dynamically cool to snow for a bit because the precip arrived before their temp shot up too much.  LOT talked about temps hitting 40 and plain rain in their 12z update and we're an hour away from that mark.

One nice thing though, the modeled QPF numbers are going to verify quite nicely for here...as we should have no problem hitting 1.00"+ rainfall totals.

There are some questions in the city, but no warnings for KW-Caledon corridor is inexcusable.

It's coming down at a pretty good clip right now here. I can't complain since I've been on the bleeding edge of either nothing or something this entire time with almost every run. Of course all they've issued is a SWS. I foresee that changing soon based on how the radar looks.
