I experienced this once or twice while I was a college student in Lubbock. I've seen some strange weather phenomena but this ranks near the very top. Throw in some lightning and raining mud and it's like the apocalypse has arrived.

Severe heat burst observed in Enid, OK right now. 60 mph sustained winds with gusts to 76 mph observed at the Air Force Base. Municipal airport reporting 33 mph sustained and gusts to 48. Expect rapid rises in temperatures and falls in humidity to be associated with these severe winds.

It was pretty wild, I stepped outside during my break at work expecting it to be cooling off. Instead I was hit in the face with an oven.

Pretty cool. Never experienced anything like that when I lived in Wichita. I'd imagine that level of heat can be somewhat alarming that time of night if you don't know what's going on.
