Both summers occurred during a multi-year Nina pattern.A dry hot pattern was eventually broken by landfalling hurricanes in North Carolina moving north causing record flooding along their tracks. June 1955 was cool and dry/ 1999 was warm and drier...I think June 2011 turns out above normal for both temperatures and precipitation...TWT... I'm amazed at how hot 1944 was, with cooler summers most of the rest of that decade. Unc, can you look back and find out when the 11 year hot summer cycle started? Curious to see the trends since the 1971-2000 period. There should be a big jump in snowfall and also rainfall I would think. Unc, do you have the corresponding July 4 - Aug 2 30 day numbers for EWR, JFK, and LGA? Im especially curious to see what EWR's peak 30 day hottest periods have been, as well as JFK, and to find out if JFK averaged over 80.0 here over that 30 day period.
