I'm surprised I am not seeing more complaining in this thread how I-95 gets all the good earthquakes.

rofl, I'm responsible so I will apologise :sun: . Maybe I will go on a little roadtrip this weekend to the east coast to get on in the action

Nah, man, it's the nature of us.

btw.....heads up y'all.....Mallow the Cloud comes to Central PA this month, and suddenly we get more severe weather than we have had in two years AND an earthquake.

Our winter's gonna be epic scooter.gifSnowman.gif

Following Irene's good practice for everyone in this thread.

It'll get us used to closely watching a promising storm that no doubt misses us by about 40 miles to the east! :)

lol...good one! We have seen this movie before, haven't we?

did you guys get rocked up there this morning? thats what the radio said anyhow..its here now. it looks like its 11 at night, popping and cracking

Somewhat, but they died out some when they reached us. Nothing like the last two storms we got.

Irene is suddenly a lot more interesting for you guys.

we currently have heavy, heavy rain. not impressed with the cracking or light show though..

Yeah, i'm a lil worried for Irene. I still haven't found anyone to fix my slate and still have it patched...I just called my Bro too, who has hell of a collection of Sports Memorabilia. A couple years ago he lost a lot, now he has 2 sump pumps, and 2 generators. i just told him to service them and get ready.

There's so much to try to assimilate from all the various forums here. I guess most significant here is the 06 GFS precip map. And from other sources here, I believe the latest Euro is a bit more west than this. Quite the gradient and a large shift west from the previous GFS precip graphic...(I think it's all Canderson's fault, he said wide right. Now maybe we have to suffer the wrath of the weather gods)

Euro way West tonight. Heavy rain axis right up the I81 corridor,

So...stay here and record the rain or travel to NJ and take in the dying Cat 1 gusts?

Yea 0z Euro pounds the eastern 2/3's of PA rainwise. In true central PA AOO and UNV get 2.5" and almost 3" respectively. The Europeans EPS control run offers pretty much the same general solution, which likely indicates that the ensemble spread jives with the operational quite nicely. Another noteable thing on the 0z Euro is that it's 10m wind gust map places a corridor 50-55knots in the slice of PA between State College and Harrisburg. If the storm comes west enough a good high elevation on a ridge top or something may be a good substitute for going to NJ.

As for the GFS, looks like the 6z GFS was a bit east of the 0z run, which stomped NE PA up into the BGM area. Both GFS runs confined heavier rainfall to about the eastern quarter of PA and only got trace to minor amounts back into the central counties. Overall the I-81 corridor and east looks like a very high likelihood of seeing decent effects from the storm, but any shift either way with the models will determine how ridiculous those effects get. Back in the central, it continues to be worth watching in my opinion.

I'm dying to go back to my parents back in Levittown...Euro pretty much takes Irene right over their house but class tentatively starts monday. Oh well, we are looking at TS winds out here and still 3-5 inches of rain right now. with a trend to the west right now, we could see even more.

Like always, a lot depends on the exact eventual track. But even as it stands now, i think those of us in south Central Pa could end up with severel inches of rain. What about wind?

also, didn't we have the remnants of a Hurricane come up through similar to this in the early 2000"s (i'm thinking like 03ish) i'm also thinking it was September.

Isabel. That did some really bad damage in York County with trees. Ivan also blew down trees on Tussey Mountain near State College. Wind is always a crap shoot with these things.

Yep Isabel, thats it. I bet we were dispatched to 60-80 calls for service in like 1 hour. It was nuts. With that, not only did we have the rain, we had deent winds as well.

Lots of tree and wire damage here in Lancaster with Isabel...what i remember most was that the strongest winds came overnight. Not a lot of sleep that night. Driving to work the next morning was an obstacle course...there were just as many roads closed with trees/wires down as there was open.

yep, you're right! I got no sleep that night. Neither did my wife. With me out on Fire calls she was scared, thought the trees by our house were going to fall on her.

I was living at 32nd and Market st in philly when Isabel came through. It was an old converted train building on the 11th floor and the windows were original. Never heard banshee screaming of winds like that before. Got maybe 30mins of sleep the entire night

i was actually nervous myself. You get those bad thunderstorms with strong wind gusts that last for a a couple of minutes...the wind HOWLED that night for several hours. Our bedroom window faces south and east, and they were shaking. My wife and i got up and took the kids downstairs for a while. The wind had woke all of us up, so we decided to have some fun and play some games at 2am. That fun was short lived though, once the power went out, the younger kids were scared.
