  1. Past hour
  2. Chris, the oceans are acting as a check and regulating the high temperatures for us (somewhat at any rate). Our decade for most number of 90 degree days was the 90s. Or to be more precise, 1991 to 2002. We haven't seen a consistently super hot summer since 2010 and before that it was 1993 that set all our record (and 1983 before that.)
  3. Records: Highs: EWR: 92 (1976) NYC: 92 (1976) LGA: 85 (2002) JFK: 84 (1985) Neverending heatwaves in 1976 and 2002 lol 1976 - The northeastern U.S. was in the midst of an early season heat wave, and the Boston Marathon took place in 90 degree heat. At Providence RI the mercury hit 98 degrees. (David Ludlum) omg 98 degrees? see, we never get this kind of early April heat anymore lol
  4. Yep. Wunderground shows rain overhead and it’s sunny
  5. when will these sea breeze summers stop? we need a stronger SE ridge.
  6. I'm not sure if those forecasts are ripped off the GFS though, this past winter I noticed that even when the GFS had a snowstorm for us, those forecasts did not. I've heard they use an inhouse blend of models. ABC/Accuweather and TWC do at any rate.
  7. On the positive side those local TV forecasts are much more accurate than some of the maps that get posted on here (especially during the winter lol.)
  8. 70 now with filtered sun. Need the clouds to clear out for a chance at 80 out here
  9. there's some sunshine from time to time but not a lot. The winds are not strong right now.
  10. 2030 would be late given how fast Ai is advancing
  11. You know the GFS is funded by the government right?
  12. My weather app says it's currently raining
  13. I love how it just knows to not climb and suffocate trees. Horrible stuff. Always a battle in my yard, and it’s a small yard.
  14. Many farms in the area applied fertilizers and compost, with the wind in the air, it really smells in these parts.
  15. The growing season isn't over yet. I hear English ivy is a good ground cover...
  16. Early May ( 2 nd to the 4 th ) appears to be the first time significant humidity and dew points visit the Mid Atlantic. Also, might time well with next oppurtunity for significant rainfall.
  17. Those conditions sound a lot like 2013, which of course produced a widespread cold and snowy winter in the Eastern United States.
  18. we need some decent rain today, otherwise it looks pretty sparse the next week or so. The 70-80 degree temps with these blistering santa ana type chinook winds have dried out the soils pretty damn well the last few days. To add injury to insult, the leafing out of trees now is sucking the living crap out of available soil moisture again, thus the local stream base flows are way below normal for this time of the year in the LV.
  19. 90% of people now look at their phones with the forecast right on them that comes ripped from the gfs and dont give any more thought to it. 9% still watch local TV for the weather. The other 1% are here or other weather forums and we say most of the time that we are better than the nws anyway, haha
  20. AI can only be so good as the data and observations that go into it. Less input data, more inaccuracy. Clouds are holding back temps a bit here. Need them to thin out to get into the 70's here and 80's inland.
  21. DTW hit 83 yesterday. Most of SE MI topped out between 80-83 (the faulty warm sensor at detroit city airport hit 88, but it's literally running 5-6° too warm, a tcc dream). In the past 2 weeks, southeast Michigan has seen temps from the 10s to the 80s, 1-2" of snow and a tornado.
  22. I got slammed here too, so many waves of tstorms yesterday into this morning (5 rounds). I didn't get thunder/lightning in the morn as shown but a pouring rain, then by evening I got the boomers with the multi-cluster mode giving me an intense storm before 1am with window rattling thunder, frequent sheet lightning! Woke up at 5am to another fat cell chugging along. 5mm/.2" in a hour, got 16mm/.63" on Fri. April/WF delivers again, I probably won't get as good storms for the rest of the year starting in June . Fri was unique in a way with its bookend storms, then 67F high by 4pm with sun for a few hrs, then dark overcast agian by 6pm, with multi rounds. Should've known due to morn event with the sun coming out later it was going to be a big night!
  23. Im at 69 now too, good day to do yard work.
  24. Still requires a human element. AI isn’t even close to there yet. I’d say closer to 2050 then 2030. The real wild card is quantum computing. Currenlty waiting for the sun and heading to the beach for nice run.
