Chris have you noticed the chronological progression here too? It actually seems to be getting worse with time! It was shorter from the 40s through the 60s and beginning with the 70s the gaps have been getting wider. The turning point was after 1966.... that was one GREAT summer going by the numbers.

My final rain total is 3.12". That was a lot of fun. I love heavy rain and it has been a long time since the last heavy rain event. There were a few lightning flashes, but it wasn't much up here in the cold air.
-
Maybe one day we'll figure out plant birth control and be able to spray something that will limit pollenation. It gets worse every year.

The record for most 75+ degree days through the end of April is 15 in 1945. The record since observations moved to the current airport location is 12 in 1960. We’re currently at 7 with a decent shot of up to 7 more before the month is over.

Back to bright and sunny on Sunday One day of rain is fine, multiple days is a bad pattern.
-
a new record for Central Park too Chris?

Today will be the coolest day of the week with highs just a few degrees below normal in the low 60's. Some showers are possible late tonight and then some great early spring weather for Tuesday through Thursday. Thursday could see temperatures in the mid 70's. Shower chances look to increase again toward the weekend.

It's been a thing the last 3 years...may have started in Spring '22 (winter didn't want to leave) and especially Spring '23 when we had to deal with wildfire smoke from Canada. Too much nw flow and a lack of storms originating out of the gulf leaves us with mostly leftover clouds and a breeze. I'm ready for swamp weather. Otherwise, I'd rather just live out west lol.

Oh no! Rest, rest, rest and hope you get on the upswing somewhat soon. Pneumonia can stick around far too long if you don't rest!

Seems that some plants are having a hard time exiting dormancy, my crepe myrtle , and other plants have some areas that look dead, stress from last Fall and the dry conditions possibly. Many areas to my West did not share in decent rains recently, and with the warm temps and windy conditions things have dried up quickly.
-
We have set some records in the wind department, and clouds have ruled the last 35 days. Nationwide winds have been impressive.

Oh boy. Hope you feel better soon. Myself: I'm having a mental day again. Wife fell yesterday and hurt her leg and back. No ER needed, but she's hurting, so I'm worried about her and her other health issues. I'm also stressing about my job again as I probably have to share a truck again. This time with a "territorial" dude who thinks he owns the truck. Starting to hate my mid-day start time again. Contemplating making a move once again, but not sure it will help. This on top of my continuing thoughts and stresses remaining from my mom's passing and having to sell, donate, or trash most of her possessions. Ugh...

Every year on this date I always remember this snowfall on April 20/21, 2021. Hate late spring snow all you want, but the scenes were beyond stunning, an absolute nature masterpiece. It was the perfect storm. The spring greenup was ahead of schedule, then snow began the afternoon of April 20th and snowed all night until the early morning hours of April 21st. Temps fell to 32F for most of the snowfall, but as the snow ended towards sunrise, skies immediately cleared and temps fell to 29-30F for several hours before the late April sun did its thing. It created some surreal scenes. DTW saw 3.5" of snow, I saw 4.4", Monroe had 5.7" and Toledo had 5.0"

I haven't turned my AC on yet this year. It was a bit toasty yesterday but bearable under the ceiling fans. This morning i have the windows open and a nice cool breeze is flowing through the house and has lowered my inside temp 3 degress already. I'm guess this week will be the week i have to turn it on. Wish it would rain

Definitely need rain in middle south of I40. The winds have dried it out significantly. Drought & fires will be a more significant issue if we don’t get some soaking rains.

56 / 29 cool. Likely the coolest day of the next 7. Back near 80 tomorrow. Then a gorgeous Wed - Fri low - mid 70s. Next shot at rain now forecast 0.50 or more comes this Saturday (26). Timing to be worked out and as of now Sunday looks salvaged. Overall warmer close to the month and dry since the 16th with Saturday next meaningful rainfall.

I wanted to plant some perennials and other stuff this week and next. Was planning on this being a rainy period. Lol

2025 Spring/Summer Mountain Thread
Maggie Valley Steve replied to Maggie Valley Steve's topic in Southeastern States
Looking like an unsettled weather pattern is taking shape for the upcoming week. Chances of almost daily rain fall should finally reduce the wildfire threat across the Mountains. -
Something like this is so premature LOL. Not saying it won't happen, but definitely can't say this will happen. Happen. We got plenty of time till we know for sure

Low of 51. We snuck in the ol' midnight high yesterday. Man, what a perfect Easter day it was, can't draw it up any better. We were outside playing yard games the whole day and having egg hunts, and it was just perfect. Hope everyone got to enjoy it.
