Checking out the Mountain View’s in Maine for a few days. That late Feb sun has the feels. .

Cleared 5” this morning. Made the drive to Willoughby for a ski which was sketchy but things tapered off around 12:30. Sleet and 30mph winds on Mt Hor made for a quick retreat off the top. A few moments of freezing drizzle and the. Back to heavy snow. Just cleared another 5”. Snowshoeing is a full effort right now out back. Piles are approaching 07’ blizzard height. Been a while since we have had this depth My what a winter .

Amazing how nice 6F without wind feels now .

Woke up to 2” and intermittent kitchen sink conditions. Graupel, sleet, freezing drizzle, snow. Another 1” since the flip to heavy snow at 11:30 Mountain needs a good ski, wind packed and dense “powder”. Definitely not relaxing in the untracked on free heels. Snowboarding looked more enjoyable .

What a wild one today! Got caught in the early morning squall with the dog on the trails, that was fun Cleared another 4”, and now just dealing with drifting Mountain got drifted wicked good. There was a little crust from some freezing rain, but only in certain aspects, skied well. Be on your toes on Big J, we are getting into tree buried deep where the wind is loading it Finished it off with another trail breaking out back. Rare to have a storms timeline snow pack. I know it’s been deeper before, but man what a great stretch of winter fun! .

Cleared 4”, but the chimney is whistling so who knows for sure Started the day with another sub zero dog walk, -8F Some pingers on my way to check the mountain at 1:30. Skied through the break in the action, a wind loaded mess, but only a touch of sleet mixing Curious what the morning brings .

As advertised, coldest start thus far… -17F on top of the hill .

Another polar wax morning, started at 5F, nice in the woods out of the wind with a few inches of diamond dust in Craftsbury. A skim of snow at the house, looks like all the people and animals will be hanging by the woodstove tonight .

Took this 20 min before the squall landed… Full white out conditions on the top of 242. Couldn’t see the road white out .

I’m casting a ballot for the best ski season in a couple years. Nice way to get back out for the day after a couple chilly ones. Our low was -14, no real wind though, took a few for the burn to really set in on the face Woke up to 8F. A dusting. Mountain had 5” of dust. Super beautiful in the sun light throughout the whole day. .

Good living J! It has been a great week to be a skier in N VT Layers of snow. But, the big drainages are still wet. Easy enough to avoid now. We are down to 9F now. .

The VAST groomer made its initial pass today across the road, thin but that is a promising sign Checking on tracks out back with the dog this evening. Back to snowshoes for a while hopefully .
